Our Story
We opened our doors in July 2022 after seven weeks of renovations and with huge support from the local community.
Our aim is to represent the local community of Walgrave. We're a not-for-profit company aiming to bring our community together.
A Community Interest Company
Skittles Community Shop was set up as a Community Interest Company and is responsible to The Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies. Unlike purely commercial companies, which exist to make profits for their owners, Community Interest Companies trade for the benefit of the community.
Benefitting The Community
All CICs are subject to an asset lock. This ensures that assets and profits are retained within the company to support its activities or are used to benefit the community. Assets can only be transferred in effect to another CIC or charity.
